The medical approach to cancer often focuses on diagnosis and treatment. However, there is a need for more attention to factors that influence the course of the disease and the quality of life of the patient. This training clarifies the role that physical activity can play at every stage: from preventive advice to support during and after therapy.
You will gain insight into the impact of exercise on mortality risk in breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and prostate cancer. Additionally, you will learn why physical inactivity remains an important concern for survivors of the disease. The course provides clear guidelines for exercise in patients and survivors, with attention to preventive effects.
Next, it will be explained how physical activity can be safely integrated during treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hormone therapy. You will receive an overview of the recommendations per stage, including diagnosis, active treatment, and advanced disease. Finally, the training summarizes the key insights and provides clinical tips.
This training makes you as a general practitioner a stronger link in the quality of life and long-term care of your patient with cancer.
